Honey – Medicinal Properties
For more than two thousand years, honey has been used as a medicine to treat a variety of diseases and ailments. In recent times, its antiseptic and antibacterial properties have also been discovered. Wound Gels that contain antibacterial honey are now being used the world over. Honey is also used to alleviate the effects of a sore throat, by mixing it with lemon juice. It is also used to treat coughs and colds.
The antioxidants present in honey have even been known to help in reducing the damage done to the colon in colitis.
Studies suggest that honey may reduce odors, swelling, and scarring when used to treat wounds.
And of, course, honey added to a glass of warm water, along with a dash of lemon juice, is an ideal drink first thing in the morning for those wanting to loose weight.
